Revving up the Rift Drive
Hey travellers!
This project is a blast. The students love it. I get to play with Glyos figures AND do my job - both things I love to do. How lucky can a feller get?
As we begin our adventure, it is inspiring to see the students eager to get the job done - everything from packaging design and artwork to actually stapling the little packages together in true Onell Design form (well, a cheap imitation thereof).
Despite challenges, setbacks and curious, unexpected but totally welcome "set-forwards", our students are wonderfully enthusiastic and eager to participate in this wonderful endeavour.
The Good News and the News That Forces Evolution One Way Or Another:
First, the News That Forces Evolution One Way Or Another.
It seems that we are, at this time, NOT able to sell these items on-line. So the niche world-wide market that these were designed, created and marketed for cannot be reached.
And now, the Good News.
We can sell them in person! Live in or near the east-Toronto area? Know a willing local to be a Glyos Mule-oid? If you want some beautiful Glyos figures, send an electronic transmission my way and we'll hook you up.
Figures are $5.00 CDN and come with a neat-o header card and insert designed by Maplewood Special Needs students. A full gallery of available figures will be posted soon. Here is a full pic of the custom photo stage the students constructed with one of our favourite Glyos figures on display:
Pretty cool, huh? The figures were hand-dyed with fabric dye and hand-painted with acrylic paint to bring out details. The Gobons were painted with Matt Walker's phenomenal Color Change paint that sparkles like the bright stars of the Glyos system when put in sunlight. Gorgeous.
Below is some artwork by my student Bradley, who loved drawing the detail in Gouvrom's bumpy, wrinkly head:
Once again, a huge amount of thanks to Matt and Michelle Doughty of Onell Design for their incredible generosity and the positive warm community that they nourish with every Glyos creation. You guys make awesome sauce.
